Jana Kubánková

Jana Kubánková  is a violinist, free artist and coach.
She graduated in violin from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in 2012. She also gained a full scholarship to study violin at the prestigious Meadowmount School of Music in NY, USA in 2006, 2007 and 2008. As a soloist Jana debuted at the age of twelve next to the maestro Josef Suk at Vivaldi double concerto. Then she appeared as a soloist with eminent Czech orchestras such as Prague Philharmonia or Prague Chamber Orchestra. Already during her early studies, she received many awards and performed at Czech Radio life concerts. With her chamber group she appeared at prestigious festivals Suk Štiřín and Ostrava Days. Yet during her studies at grammar school she became a part of The Czech Chamber Orchestra set by Vaclav Talich. At the age of twenty, Jana became a violinist in the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. She joined the orchestra on tours throughout the world and cooperated with many world-known conductors. Jana also took an important part in arranging and coaching many educational projects within the Czech Philharmonic. In 2017, Jana left the orchestra to get artistic freedom and time for her own projects.

Yet during her early studies Jana was interested in philosophy of human being, psychology and role of art in society. Between 2012 – 2017 she attended classes of philosophy at Charles University in Prague, completed journalism internship program at political revue The New Presence and she has undertaken her training in expressive therapies. Since 2014 Jana started leading workshops and seminars based on synthesis of conventional artistic education and expressive therapies techniques for students of performing art and young professional artists in Czech Republic, and additionaly at Meadowmount School of Music in USA in 2018. Between 2014-2016 she ran such program series also at centers for children in social crisis in Prague to support positive changes in their lifes.

Nowadays, as a violinist, Jana concentrates on performing contemporary music. Since 2017 she has appeared as a concertmaster and soloist of the Berg Orchestra where she premiered many international and Czech contemporary works. Jana also performs her own solo violin projects based mostly on contemporary music presentation both in the Czech Republic and abroad, first of these projects was internationally premiered in Washington DC, USA in summer 2018.

In 2017, Jana founded artistic iniciative IMUZA as a platform where she joins artists from various artistic fields, amateur artists with professionals in educational work and creates concert opportunities for young performers. She organizes artistic events for wide public and children in her homeland. In 2018, within IMUZA Jana created platform Institute Freedom, free space for international artistic project cooperation and dialogue on the issue of human freedom, human rights and democracy as a reaction on current national and international political state of affairs.
