Official website of the exhibition

The work of this prematurely deceased artist will be presented an exhibition prepared by the team of her colleagues from Prague City Gallery and the curator Petr Vaňous. This “artist and painter, sometimes reaching out to the object, installation and new media, has developed her own distinctive artistic expression consisting of ‘abstracted storytelling’, which can be described as existential. Michaela Maupicová’s drawings represent a spontaneously multiplying, restless, all-absorbing ornament, sometimes disciplined into symmetrical systems, sometimes running and spilling randomly over and outside the format, or expanding directly into space. Here there is an order in randomness, an enlargement that in a model situation of the given unifying element and its multiplication allows us to see our analogous idea of what is happening outside and inside of us.“

Supporting the Youth

During the past few months we finished couple of projects supporting young people and children seriously interested in music and artistic work to help them grow their talents and fulfill their potential.

In December 2018 in our North-Czech region we organized and held traditional Concert for Christmas – a Christmas gift not just for the audience, but mostly for young talented musicians from our region. Symphonic orchestra consisting of professionals together with amateurs and kids, childs choir together with experienced adults, great professional oboe soloist Vilem Veverka together with young instrumentalists, these all were rehearsing months before with Martin Hybler as artistic coach and conductor and presented their work on stage during the concert for Christmas. The point of this project is to enrich experience of young people by work with professionals straight next to them. This work usually brings positive changes in life of young people, motivate them more to responsibility for their work, to make decisions about their future, strengthen the will in practicing, bring inspiration to their lives and show them positive personality examples. After this experience many of our children successfully pass exams to higher artistic education and conservatories or move to responsibility in their decision making on their future education.

In January 2019 a festive concert presentation of the new work by Martin Hybler for children and young pianists was presented. It is a set of arrangements of popular songs and melodies from evergreen fairy tales and movies on piano for four hands. The title was published by the Czech Radio Publishing and the concert was also broadcasted and streamed. At the concert, schoolmates, but also grandmother with granddaughter played together, one song was also presented by Czech eminent pianist Ivo Kahanek together with headmaster of The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra David Mareček. The title became very popular straight. From this concert till now many songs was played at events and competitions. Titles on the piano for four hands by Martin Hybler brings many kinds and young people together just to play and enjoy music as different and enriching way of communication together but also helps cultivate the skills for teamwork, chamber music playing, rhythm and empathy. You can find more of instructive work by Martin Hybler here.

In February 2019 we joined international competition for young singers Sanremo Junior to support finalists in their couple-month preparation for final round performance with symphonic orchestra. Martin Hybler showed as a conductor of the project and Jana Kubankova as art coach teaching young finalists how to eliminate stress and stage fright and work on their expressivity and musical feeling. No matter if these young talents continues with music or not, all the experience they reached will help them at any area they choose for their future life.

For Freedom and Democracy

To today´s Day of Fight for Freedom and Democracy, we attach a composition by Martin Hybler with additional scetches by Jana Kubankova – “Oligarch, the Globalizer”.

“Oligarch, the Globalizer” is utopian-“orwell” composition about  what would have happenned if such a person entered a political scene – a person being born from dirty money and political populism,  a person who buys popularity by promises and emotional quotes, person, who works for personal interests in politics instead of representing the needs of people. This visionary composition was premiered in 2006 and unfortunately it is still up to date in The Czech Republic, because our political scene is occupied but such a person…

A politics of personal interests wins. The goal of the politics of such representatives is not a citizen or state, but contrary the citizen and the state becomes the tool of these representatives to reach their own prosperity. Is this still democracy?…

Hunderd Years of Czech Independence

Jana Kubánková at the T. G. Masaryk Statue in front of Czech Embassy in Washington

On 28th of October 2018 our country celebrated a hunderd year anniversary of independence. During this time our country was really independent only for about half time of existence. The latter periods were boud with obedience to other authocratic states and doctrines during the Second World War and Communistic Era.

As a gift to this anniversary Jana Kubankova prepared special project of life performance based only on solo violin compositions written by Czech composers creating their music during this hunderd-year-era. This programme was presented by Jana this summer at solo recitals for The Czech Embassy and for The Victims of Communism Foundation in Washington DC, USA, the city, where Czechoslovakia independence was declared.

During the concerts Jana provided life commentaries on problematic time period and politics, about composers lifes and the works played to get the audience closer to the context of this period of time. All the music did not explain but rather expressed the state of affairs and athmosphere in our country during those times.

On this occasion Martin Hybler wrote a premiere work for solo violin, “Lonely Self”, a composition dealing with the fact that freedom is inner state of human being – inner dissaproval of any obbedience to doctrine attacking human dignity; and therefore while being free, we are lonely in our self.
Authors on the programme were Ervin Schulhoff, Jaroslav Ježek, Karel Sklenička and Klement Slavický.
